How does the FIT (fecal immunochemical test) test screen for colon cancer?
This test is used to find small amounts of hidden (occult) blood in the stool. A sample of stool is tested for traces of blood. Individuals taking this test will receive a kit with instructions that explain how to take the stool sample at home. The kit is then sent to our partner lab for testing. If you receive a positive result, our physician network will contact you to discuss, but we also recommend discussing it further with your health care provider as additional testing may be needed. This test alone cannot diagnosis colon cancer.
